A B O U T

Anne-Lene Nöldner is a dance artist working between Belgium and Germany. She first
studied psychology in Leipzig, then contemporary dance at the HfMT Cologne and the Royal Conservatory
in Antwerp.
Anne-Lene has worked as a dancer in diverse settings- from solo to collaborative processes of varying
hierarchical degrees. Based on this she examines her agency within her role as a dancer and asks which
independent creative practice and specific authorship underlie this position.
A strong focus of her artistic work lies in the collaboration with Elsa Artmann/Sanfte Arbeit (Cologne,
Germany), in whose performances and mediation projects she has been involved since 2017. Their working practices have persistently shaped her understanding of dance as a medium in which to reflect on the intersection between seemingly hyper-personal concerns and their broader socio-political correspondences within cultural capitalism. The relation between language and dance plays a decisive role, both in shared writing processes as well as spoken or sung on stage.

Reocurring questions in her own research revolve around the changing meanings of artistic and social icons and the mechanisms of fandom and adoration, how friendship relationships between colleagues shape the aesthetics of a collaboration and how to keep on loving something genuinly under a constant pressure of self-branding.

Since 2019 Anne-Lene has been performing in projects by Ursina Tossi, Marlin de Haan, Kinga Jaczewska and Femke Gyselink.
